CLARE ESTATE RESIDENTS, VOLUNTEERS BOND OVER TIE-BLANKET MARATHON
Community Project Nets 15 Blankets, Benefits Three Charities
BORDENTOWN, N.J., July 8, 2013 – A day-long tie-blanket marathon held at The Clare Estate, a fully licensed assisted living residence, produced 15 blankets benefiting three charities locally and overseas. The event brought together a dozen residents and volunteers who created unique blankets in various sizes and designs. The initiative, which has grown from a therapeutic activity to an outreach program, helps support three non-profits. HomeFront is a Lawrenceville, N.J.-based organization that assists homeless families. True Light Ministries inWillingboro helps underserved children inLiberia,West Africa. Helping Hands forHaiti, founded by a Clare Estate employee andHaiti native Judith Jean, provides schooling for children.
Established in 2001, The Clare Estate is owned by Community Investment Strategies, Inc. and housed in the former St. Clare’s Monastery, located onCrosswicks Street. The community is staffed 24 hours a day by a multi-disciplinary team, including registered and licensed practical nurses; certified medication aides and certified nurse assistants; recreation therapists; and support staff. Residents also enjoy a host of amenities, such as medication management, planned outings to local venues, housekeeping and laundry services, chef-prepared meals and on-site physician services.
